MORAL ECONOMICS

my dad is a fan of the posit, and i guess he’s reaching his golden years, and beginning to wonder grand things. grand things, which, at his age, probably warrant some wondering. a little ruminatin’. one of the things he brings up occasionally, is the question of whether he has contributed overall to society. you know, while leaning back in his leather recliner, smoking a pipe, and poking at the fireplace coals.

i guess i’m too young (i.e. too selfish) to do much more than write flippant journal entries about it.

EVALUATING WOMEN

Posted by Erik Frey Wed, 24 Sep 2003 05:08:00 GMT

i had a friend in highschool named lindsay. we called him moose, because he was from canada, and he called his mom “mummy”.

moose invited me to the bahamas once for spring break. we spent the days out on rose key, island-hopping in kayaks, playing volleyball, and occasionally being beach-hands for moose’s dad’s tour company. at night we slept in a boat, and we’d stay up to watch late-night cinemax (yeah) and talk about gina longo, the prettiest girl in 10th grade. just so it’s clear, i totally knew her before he did.

VALIS

“48. Two realms there are, upper and lower. The upper universe is derived from hyperuniverse I or Yang, Form I of Parmenides, is sentient and volitional. The lower realm, or Yin, Form II of Parmenides, is mechanical, driven by blind, efficient cause deterministic and without intelligence, since it emanates from a dead source. In ancient times it was termed ‘astral determinism.’ We are trapped, by and large, in the lower realm, but are, through the sacraments, by means of the plasmate, extricated. Until astral determinsim is broken, we are not even aware of it, so occluded we are. The empire never ended.”

SANDCASTLES

And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”

july 21, 1861. hundreds of spectators travelled by buggy to a tranquil pasture 30 miles west of washington. they brought picnic baskets with them, laid out blankets, and sat down to enjoy the show:

COLOSSEUM DREAM

Posted by Erik Frey Tue, 18 Feb 2003 06:38:00 GMT

i had a dream last night. i was visiting the colosseum, except in my dream it was still in mint condition, with the walls intact and the massive wooden stage/platform covering the hallways underneath. the only curious difference, and this was something of a matter of fact in my dream, was that the colosseum was infested with roaches, so much so that you couldn’t see the stage. it was simply a sea of brown, and the sea rolled over all the benches and archways and corridors, and emitted this roar of hissing and clicking that one might definitely find unsettling.

squirrel when i was seven, johnny took me to hawaii for the summer.
